I'm sorry we haven't talked, and there isn't much time now - I'm going to fight something called the Leviathan. A lot of us are. I don't know for sure how it's going to go.

Just in case of the worst, I want you to know that you're the best person and friend I ever could have met. If something happens, Mako is holding a letter for you.

[It's whiplash, really. Bolin heard the sirens go off but he didn't think it was his fight. His duty was to stay with their group and keep them safe.

But if he knew Korra was going.. shouldn't they have all gone? He would have- she should have asked-

[She's been thinking much the same thing, really. What to do about it, if something is to be done, is another matter. She's been resigned to an inevitable sort of drifting, based on what this place is - hearing about Mako and Wu's engagement from a general announcement had, despite their assurances, furthered that.]

I know, it was organized like an army - I didn't think to ask anyone else.

[But never mind. She's been doing her own thing, hasn't she. Maybe this is just how life is now. He isn't sure how he feels about it but it kinda feels like it did back home. People grow up. People go in different directions. He's been there before. Hell, they scattered all across the planet back home for one reason or another.]

And it's not like I didn't feel it coming in my dreams. Ugh. You remember how ugly Vaatu was? Multiply it by ten.
